TTS Handling Systems AS has signed a contract for delivery of three large sized panel and block production lines to Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. in China, with hand over in the spring of 2008.
The buyer of the equipment is China Offshore Industrial Corporation (COIC).
Beihai is today primarily a shiprepair yard. However, their goal is to become the biggest shipyard in the world within 4-6 years. Beihai shipbuilding output will be 2million dwt in the short term and 4.680.000 dwt in the longer term. Compared to a European medium sized shipyard – Beihai will output more than 20 times more steel per year.
The first phase of the TTS supply consists of no less than 3 panel lines – each with a capability of producing 20,5 x 22,5m panels.
