Gothenburg’s TTS Ships Equipment AB, part of TTS Marine’s Dry Cargo handling Division, has won two contracts from Finland’s Aker Finnyards for the supply of Cargo Access Equipment (CAE) to two ro/ro cruise/ferries.

The first contract involves a 34,000 grt fast ro/ro ferry/cruise vessel (Yard No. 1358) building at Aker Finnyards’ Rauma shipyard for Finland’s Viking Line.
The contract covers the design, supply and installation of the CAE, which comprises a stern door/ramp, bow doors, bow ramp (of the folding frame type), a tiltable ramp and passenger/pilot/bunker doors.
Aker Yards, Finland and Viking Line Abp signed a contract for the vessel on 30 November 2005. The contract price is approximately 120-130 million euro. The contract also includes options for two similar vessels. She is due for delivery in January 2008.
The vessel, which is intended for the Helsinki (Finland) - Tallinn (Estonia) route, will be 185 m long and 27.7 m wide, taking 2,500 passengers. The vessel will reach a speed of 25 knots driven by 40,000 kW engines. The vessel will have Finnish Ice Class 1 A super.
The second contract is for CAE to be design, supplied and installed onboard Yard No. 1361, a 2,800 passenger-capacity ro/ro ferry/cruise vessel for Estonia’s Tallink, a subsidiary of AS Hanseatee Group, Tallinn.
This contract comprises two stern doors/ramps, bow doors of folding frame type, a hoistable car deck with ramps at Deck 4 level, PS and SB and passenger/pilot/bunker doors.
This vessel, to be delivered in summer 2008 from Aker Yards shipyard in Helsinki will be a sistership to Galaxy delivered from the Rauma shipyard on 18 April 2006.
The 212 metres long and 29 m wide vessel is one of the biggest and fastest cruise ferries in the Baltic Sea, having capacity for 2,800 passengers and with a speed of 24.5 knots.
