TTS wins another order from Wilh Wilhelmsen 06.06.2005

Sweden’s TTS Ships Equipment AB, part of Norway’s TTS Group, has won an additional contract to supply cargo access equipment for two more pure car and truck carriers

Sweden’s TTS Ships Equipment AB, part of Norway’s TTS Group, has won an additional contract to supply cargo access equipment for two more pure car and truck carriers (PCTCs) to be built at Japan’s Mitsubishi Heavy Industries’ (MHI) Nagasaki shipyard for Norway’s Wilh Wilhelmsen. This again confirms TTS’ world-wide leadership in the supply of such equipment to the car carrier market, having, since May 1993, won orders for more than 90 PCTCs.

The new contract is for the supply of cargo access equipment for two 6,400 unit PCTCs and follows an order won during March last year (2004) for a series of four 6,400 unit PCTCs building at the same yard for the same owner.  The new contract will involve the Yard Nos. S2217 and S2218, these vessels due for delivery during the fourth quarter of 2006 and the first quarter of 2007 respectively.

The equipment to be delivered to MHI comprises the stern quarter and side ramps, and internal ramps together with the accompanying hydraulic and electrical systems. The specification requires capacity of 170 tonnes (heavy load wagon type Samson) on the quarter ramp, and a maximum of 22 tonnes on the side ramp. Each set of cargo access equipment will weigh approximately 635 tonnes.

Apart from Wilh Wilhelmsen, TTS currently has orders for the supply of cargo access equipment onboard PCTCs for Leif Hoegh (Norway), EUKOR (Korea), Ray Shipping, and AP Moller in yards in South Korea, Poland and Croatia.
